The Angel of Redemption – Mukura’s authentic voice of transforming breakdown into breakthrough

  • Author: Chipochashe Adams-Mukura

When I got hold of Chipochashe Adams-Mukura’s debut book, a great part of me hesitantly anticipated that it would be an angelic fiction book depicting angels from heaven. I pictured an angel whose primary task was to save humanity from its own troubles.

Well, I wasn’t entirely wrong — except that the angel being spoken about is not the heavenly angel as I had imagined — but each and every one of us as an angel capable of saving ourselves from various troubles worrying us.

The title of the book itself is captivating and matches a story connecting with the majority of people and souls who are living in the past and at times bitter and without a purpose, people who are broken, depressed and fighting battles we know nothing of.

The author appeals to each and every one of us to be our own angels capable of saving ourselves by starting afresh — learning to love and living a life with meaning as well as purpose, thereby becoming our own Angel of Redemption.

In chapter one, Mukura bares her soul by recalling her tragic experience of losing her son Bradely during his first few days of existence.

From this chapter, her writing style paints descriptive images as she takes the reader to her maternity ward and I immediately pictured Bradely to be a brave little soldier — who endures so much and fights for his life with great strength proving the old English adage that “it is not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the fight in the dog”.

Despite putting on a great and brave fight,  Bradely succumbs to nature leaving his mother (the author) very heartbroken.

As chapter one ends, I love the mere fact that the author comes to terms with grief and accepts that even if Bradely had lived, his grave was still going to be someone else’s.

Throughout the text, Mukura is death-conscious and encourages all of us to heal from our past troubles and brokenness.

Throughout the text, Mukura’s Voice is Authentic — in fact, I could hear it as she spoke so softly and passionately from a great fountain of wisdom.

She encourages the reader to chart a new path of transformation, healing and living a life filled with meaning and purpose.

The Angel of Redemption is a book that relates with many of us.

It is a book for those dealing with a difficult past — a book for the heartbroken.

It is a book for those who want to build healthy relationships — be it personal, professional or romantic relationships and marriages.

It is a book for the hopeless — those living a life without purpose.

Stop living in the past, start living a meaningful life in the present — is the author’s key message in The Angel of Redemption.

We are our own angels capable of saving or redeeming ourselves from a brutal past.
